About me…hmmm…always a tough question to answer whether on a blog or in an interview. For some reason, I always have trouble answering this question.
For starters, just call me Mec. It’s an old nickname that I got a long time ago, but few people use. I received it at one of my jobs, and it kind of stuck. I imagine that my family doesn’t even know about it, and I’m happy about that. 🙂
I am just a plain middle aged woman who has a cat and a boyfriend. My boyfriend and I have been together for 4 1/2 years and living together for 3 1/2 years. I’m hoping for a ring and he knows I’m hoping for a ring. Other than that I don’t want to pressure him. It’s not my way, and I want him to be happy whether he chooses me or someone else.
My cat’s name is Skippy and you will be hearing a lot about him. It’s one of the things that I am very passionate about. Skip is 11 years old and has a heart condition named Hypertropic Cardiomyopathy. Thankfully, my awesome vet caught it early and so far his cardiologist that he sees says it looks like he will live a long while. I’ll talk about Skip more in a blog.
What do I do for a living, you ask? I do software quality assurance. I don’t like to brag, but I’m pretty good at what I do. I’m one of those QA people who loves to dig in a database and read code to see what in the world is going on. I used to be an Oracle developer, so I know the BS that I used to give to QA people. So, the poor developers that I work with can’t get by with it. 🙂 By the same token, I am way easier on developers than other QA people. I don’t mind having issues just between me and the developer if they are small. The reason is that I wouldn’t like to be called out for something small in front of everyone and neither do they. So, if it is a small item, I will either make a visit or IM the developer. I have never had a problem with these types of issues being resolved. Larger issues everyone understands must be reported to everyone. I have a great rapport with developers because of this.
In my personal life, my family is above work. I love my parents and family dearly. I would do anything for them, even the strange ones. My dad’s side is very logically and technically minded. My mom’s side is very down-to-earth, but don’t go technical on them. I grew up a tom-boy who was also taught to cook and clean. So, I can build you a shed or re-roof your house and make you some homemade bread. From all of this, I feel that I am very well rounded. I think sometimes people wonder how I can talk to guys and girls about so many different things and why do I have so many experiences. I just like to say that I was lucky. 🙂
